  • Of Excercise and Accidents. . .

Since moving to Indiana, I have found taking walks in the evening to be quite refreshing. The land is level, which makes it easier to push a stroller around, and the sunsets are gorgeous! While I'm out walking if the children are with me they are so quite I hardly know that they exist. Well, except for Nathaniel who is fascinated with seeing anything new. I have enjoyed the exercise it affords and the time to clear my head of the daily's of life and family. I have even ventured to do a little biking. Atlee has been so proud of me. (He knows that I haven't been on a bike since I was a teenager.) Since we are surrounded by businesses there's lots of cement; perfect for walking, roller blading and biking. So, despite the fact that I don't have a bike I decided to use Les' to take a mile or so bike ride. So. . .off I went, in pants, due to that fact that wearing a skirt would've been impossible on a male bike. At the end of the first half of my journey, I turned around and while on a slight incline, I stood to pick up speed. It was then that Les' bike slipped gears and I took a hard fall. I decided since there wasn't anyone around to baby me, I might as well just get back up and quickly get home. I didn't really take the time to access my injuries, but I did see the blood running down my arm from my left elbow. Once I was at home, I realized the extent of my injuries and the pain really began to kick in. I was glad that I was wearing pants. The skin has been taken off my knee. I can't imagine what it would be like if I would have been wearing a skirt. Of coarse, falling in an area that had a bit of loose gravel didn't help the fall!

Les had a great time using his EMT skills to take nurse his sister in law and Nathaniel was fascinated by the very large bandaids that Mommy was wearing. My mom is worried because it is the arm that was hurt in my car accident and Atlee was half upset at the bike for slipping gears. All in all, I am now at home nursing a wound that makes me feel like I'm back in elementary school.
